Holy Sh*t! We did not see this coming!

Am I allowed to say that? Oops oh well, it’s said now. What a monumental year 2020 is developing into, in a way no-one knew was possible.

I hope in these unprecedented times you are all managing to stay home and stay safe. Here at BBHQ we are doing what we can, which, when you have a mind like mine its pretty hard to ‘switch off’. I started a jigsaw last Friday and have so far only gotten as far are the edges. It looks like a map of Australia. In my defence, it has been sunny and I have been taking full advantage so I’ve been chilling with Rufi in the garden. I have even had my legs out all week.

Seeing as the venue I manage, and the events we had booked are on hold, whilst in COVID lockdown, April for me will all be about learning new things, including attempting to learn French and baking bread. If anyone has any tips please do feel free to share them via facebook or email I’d love to hear them.

One thing I can assure you all, is that when the pandemic is over and we are permitted to do so, Brewbox will back to dong what we do best – making drinks. I may even host a POST-COVID P A R T Y in the town where I live. Of course you will all be invited.

So what else have I been unto? Just before the lockdown, I put a deposit down on a van so I can start to fulfil our #vanlife and of course transport our reclaimed piano bar to more events. Unfortunately though this has had to be put on hold for the time being, so check back on here for updates ( if you are interested of course ).

Anyway, with all this extra time on my hands, I could waffle on for ages, so I’d better wrap it up. Rufi needs a walk and as we are allowed our once per day exercise, that’s us down to the rec for a run round.

Keep safe everyone. Let’s ride this wave and come out the other side.

Lots of Love

2020 and beyond!

Well how did this happen??

A month into 2020 already! This is the year we are hoping to go completely off grid in an effort to reduce our impact even further. So far we have stopped using plastic where we can, scaled down our drinks offering to focus on local artisan producers and opted for compostable plant starch drinking vessels, switched to paper straws and recently stopped serving Coca Cola in favour of ethical, fair-trade and sustainable brand Karma Drinks. In 2020 you will see us install alternative energy sources so we can dispense our drinks in any field in any location. Good for you, good for us, good for the planet. Everyones a winner. We will of course post regular update on the progress.

Despite having Boris as a PM, and the UK leaving European Union ( what on earth!!) the year is looking good in many ways. Our calendar is filling up with events, weddings and corporate dos, and we are looking forward travelling up and down the country to attend to ‘bring the brew to you’.*

We will be at the world famous** Treacle Market in Macclesfield again in April and Buxton food markets throughout the year. We really hope and look forward to seeing you throughout the year. We love meeting new people and serving drinks is our pleasure.

Big love,

Team BB xxx

*Photos of all our events will of course be on insta. 😉

** ok maybe not the world

Winter is coming :)

Now those of you that know us, know very well that we absolutely love the summer. That feeling of the sun on our face we love so much. The scent of the flowers in bloom. The sight of the lush green hawthorn hedges and fields of wheat. The joy that is bestowed by the view of bouncing lambs. The mindfulness that comes with spotting the banded Galloway’s in amongst the field of Friesians. The first signs of the blue tits collecting bugs for their young, and the buzz of the bees gathering their pollen all put a huge smile on our face.

Then of course, as if this weren’t all enough, there are the fabulous weddings and events we attend with our trailer.  Whether its a stately home, a farmers field with a fabulous view, or simply a large back garden, we love them all equally. We are lucky enough to meet so many people who are just there to have good time, it makes our job an absolute pleasure. 20 years in an industry we love is a real blessing, and it gets better every year.

On days like today ( it’s raining) it is sometimes hard to think of the positives of whats to come.  The nights start to draw in, the skies start to get darker and temperatures drop. What do we do? Hibernate? No chance…

We love the autumn and winter just as much as summer, and for good reason. We get to turn our hand and our expertise to concocting winter cocktails, picking out unreal dark beers and stouts to compliment the cold nights and of course, we get to mull the wine!! We are really giddy over the flavours and smells of winter spices. We also get to don our bespoke wooly brewbox bobbly hats to keep our ears warm. (pics on insta soon)

Think nutmeg, cinnamon, clove and orange peel added to a luscious deep red wine or strong scrumpy cider. Think spiced Caribbean rum added to thick velvety hot chocolate, or a perfectly balanced oatmeal stout or even a warm brandy blazer washing down that mince pie. Imagine walking round an artisan market on cold day, shopping for your beloveds Christmas present,  wrapped up in a scarf with a hot mulled wine in hand. Are you imagining it? Are you as giddy as we are?

We told you there’s good reason to get excited about winter. We are very pleased to let you all know that we are providing these sights, smells and tastes at the following markets in the next few months.

So far we can confirm that we will be at Buxton winter market on November 2nd, Leek Christmas light switch on on Friday November 15th, Leek Christmas markets 1st and 15th of December, Wedgwood Christmas market 7th and 8th of  December and Buxton Christmas market on December 14th. Buxton, Stoke and Leek you are in for a treat.

Before the winter does begin its tighter hold, we will be welcoming in the autumn at this years Leek BluesFest providing the refreshments down at the sparrow park stage on Derby st on Sunday 6th October. The event really is one not to be missed. With so much live music going on in the town, (most of it free) there is a real buzz about the place.

We look forward to serving you up a delicious treat in the coming months.

Big Love

Blink and you miss it…

Wowsers… how has this happened. 6 months into 2019 already.

But what a six months its been. Hectic here at BB in more ways than one, and that’s without mentioning Boris or Brexit!! We have had our piano bar at a school reunion, hosted a cocktail party for a lovely bunch of hens on a hen do and served at a festival themed wedding in Mobberley. I did a bit festival management work ( fab but very muddy ), and I managed to replace the floor in the trailer. Phew..

So.. what’s next? We are looking forward a few very busy months of festivals, foodie events and weddings. If you have worked hard enough and are fortunate enough to own a Bentley, you may have been invited to the exclusive 100 Years of Bentley party next month?. If you are attending we will see you there. Come see us for a nice chilled glass of bubbly and a pint.

For those of not fortunate enough to own a Bentley, there’s World of Wedgwood summer fair in Burslem. We’ve dusted of our cocktail kit, as we’ll be serving up the most refreshing spritzes, table beer and Pimms alongside the artisan crafters and street food stalls. We are always on the look out for opportunities to meet new people and trade different markets. This month sees us serving up the local brew at Macclesfield’s hugely successful and popular treacle market. We have ordered this fine weather to stay so the beers will taste even better with the sun on your face.

Now you know what we are doing and where are, we hope to see you at an event soon. Like we said, we love meeting new people and serving you is our pleasure. Enjoy the sunshine, and have a gin for us.

See you soon

New Year, New Me (us)

So here we are approaching year 4 of trading. What a journey it has been. We have been to many fantastic locations the length and breadth of the country, had lots of fun, worked many hours and put smiles on many faces. This year will be no different.

Now resident in Staffordshire, we re-located our business from Tyne and Wear at the end of 2018. So far so good. We are really loving Peak District life, and meeting the artisans and crafty hands in the area. We have made lots of new business friends and look forward to working with them in coming year and beyond.

You will be able to see us at the Sunday Supplement market in Leek and the Blues Fest pouring the absolutely ace Red Willow ale and Mobberley based Spirit of George gin.

If you don’t see us at an event locally, we hope to meet you at a wedding sometime soon.

Love what you do… Do what you love

We love our job.

We are lucky enough to spend the summer months serving beautiful brides, gorgeous grooms and their glamorous guests. We serve local craft brewed beer small batch gin and prosecco with strawberries. We see smiles, we see tears of happiness and joy, and we see some truly epic dance moves. We make new friends, we visit new places. We laugh at the speeches, and we sometimes get some cake.

We share something we love doing, with people in love. This is why we do it. Some might say its the best job in the world…. we happen to agree.

There’s a famous saying… “when you find a job you love, you don’t work a day of your life”

See you at a party soon.

WHAT A YEAR, and it still isn’t over!

Well, 2017 has been a blast, and has been our busiest yet. And there are still some events to come. Weddings, foodie festivals, dog shows, charity events, we’ve done the lot this year.

And December sees us providing the hot mulled wine and warm cocktails at winter food markets in the North East.

You can catch us at the Corbridge Mid Winter evening in the village, 5pm – 10pm on Dec 4th, Newcastle wood recycling centre, Walker,  Saturday 9th, 11am – 7pm and Jesmond food market, Armstrong bridge 10am – 4pm on Dec 17th.

We’d love to see you at some if not all of these events (you don’t have an excuse, they are free)

See you soon

I would just like to thank all our family and friends who have supported us along the way, and continue to spread the love, brewbox would not be what it is today with out you. We very much appreciate it. 2016 was a bad year for lots of people in many ways, but without the bad days we cannot appreciate the good days.

I have made lots of new friends in the business this year, including artists, traders, cooks, market organisers and brewery owners, and I hope to meet many more. Life is a lot better when we can work together, help and support each other and watch each other grow. After all Newcastle is an wonderful city and its people are the friendliest of the land. #bettertogether

2017 is shaping up to a busy year on the wedding and event front taking us to the Scottish coast, and to the Scottish borders and beyond.  And with some great collaborations and shows coming to fruition we are a little excited for the year ahead. This is the year.

Lots of Love one and all

BB xx
